KEEPING SPONGES ALIVE by Kirk Masters Amazing Coral Reef

Keeping sponges alive is easy. First of all, keep sponges out of direct light to prevent algae growth on sponge. Secondly ,give the sponges what they need. The base of sponges is silica so you must have some silica in you tank. If you use RO water then if possible, feed some tap makeup say once per week instead of your RO. Watch for excessive silica buildup in the form of brown algae or diatoms. Reduce makeup tap water usage if this occurs. Thirdly, the use of Amazing Coral Reef's Bio Vital Combo will help the bacteria populations in the sponges live and expand. So, sponges need low light, silica and Bio Vital Combo. That is all.
